Professional personal assistant

 

 

The “Professional Personal Assistant” course is a vocational training program authorized and recognized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity and the Ministry of Education and Research, according to COR code: 532904.
The course lasts 72 hours and is designed for individuals who wish to offer direct support to persons with disabilities, the elderly, or others in vulnerable situations, contributing to the improvement of their quality of life.

The professional personal assistant provides care and protection to adults with severe or pronounced disabilities, at their place of residence, based on their individual needs, in accordance with Law no. 448/2006 on the protection and promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities, republished and subsequently amended.

 

🎯 Course objective

To develop the necessary competencies for caring for and supporting persons with disabilities, the elderly, or people in dependent situations, contributing to the preservation of their dignity and quality of life, within their family or community.

 

🧑‍⚕️ What does a professional personal assistant do?

A personal assistant is a qualified professional who offers daily, hands-on assistance to a person with disabilities or special needs. They may work in the person’s home, in residential centers, within social service programs, or as employees of public institutions or NGOs.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with personal hygiene (washing, dressing, toileting);

  • Supporting with eating and hydration;

  • Helping with mobility and movement around the home;

  • Monitoring health status and reporting any changes to family or medical personnel;

  • Administering medications as instructed;

  • Accompanying the beneficiary to medical appointments, walks, or other activities;

  • Encouraging communication and social interaction;

  • Providing emotional support and contributing to the social integration of the beneficiary.

  • Copy of ID card / for foreign citizens: valid residence permit issued by the General Inspectorate for Immigration;

  • Valid passport;

  • Birth certificate;

  • Marriage certificate (if applicable);

  • Proof of completed compulsory education;

  • Certificate of Romanian language proficiency, minimum level C1 for foreign citizens.
