The social worker is a qualified professional whose intervention is found in the primary service sector (Day Centers for children, Day Centers for children with disabilities, Residential Centers for children/children with disabilities, Rehabilitation Centers for adults) and child protection (Residential services for children, Residential services for children with disabilities).

The social worker also intervenes at the community level, playing an active role in identifying risk factors at the community level and risk situations at the individual level. The social worker is employed within both public and private services. They are part of a multidisciplinary team that provides specialized support services for children/adults at risk in the community or those separated from their family, for whom special protection measures have been implemented.

The social worker is a member of a team (disciplinary, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary) that ensures the functioning of an institution, as well as a member of an intervention service at the community level. Therefore, the social worker intervenes both within the institution and in the community, ensuring coordination with various specialized services.

 

Main activities the social worker must perform:

  • Carrying out activities outlined in the intervention plan.

  • Identifying risk causes at the community level and individual risk situations for the beneficiaries.

  • Supporting the beneficiary in activities that maximize personal autonomy.

  • Supporting the development of independent living skills for the beneficiary.

  • Promoting the development of social, emotional, and cognitive skills.

  • Supporting the beneficiary in activities aimed at maximizing social autonomy.

When carrying out their activities, the social worker must consider the characteristics of the beneficiaries, such as sex, age, biological, psychological, and social development, health status, level of disability, type of disability, type of dependency, social and economic situation, etc.

 

Relevant Information:

  • The social worker profession requires excellent health, physical condition, stress resistance, and endurance.
  • There are no minimum requirements for obtaining this qualification.

Enrollment requirements:

  • Copy of ID/Identity card

  • Copy of birth certificate

  • Copy of marriage certificate (if applicable).

  • Quality professional training: The courses are taught by experienced trainers, and the training includes both theoretical and practical parts. At the end of the course, you will take a written and practical exam to obtain the qualification certificate issued by the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Education, recognized in Romania and the European Union.
