Adobe Indesign

 

This course is designed for individuals who wish to learn DTP (Desktop Publishing) techniques and the proper preparation of files for printing or online use.

In order to fully understand the concepts presented in this course, participants should have a medium-level knowledge of Photoshop, particularly: color modes (CMYK, RGB), using Photoshop (Paths), and layers (opacity masks, adjustment layers).

The course is primarily practical, with immediate applicability. Participants will receive free course materials. To attend the course, participants must use their own computer/laptop, which should have the necessary software installed.

 

 

InDesign course structure


 

1. Introduction to the Program and Workspace
  • Overview of the InDesign interface, menus, and workspace setup

  • Customizing keyboard shortcuts

  • Working with mobile panels and efficient workspace management (showing or hiding certain options)

  • Personalizing the workspace

  • Creating new documents for later submission to print (margins, bleed, slug) or online publishing

 
2. Working with Images and Colors
  • Importing images into InDesign and formatting images (proportional/non-proportional)

  • Placing text over or around images

 
3. File Types Importable in InDesign
  • Supported file formats (PDF, PSD, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, GIF, PNG, etc.) and their interactive editing through integration with other Adobe Creative Suite programs

 
4. Color and Image Management in InDesign
  • RGB, CMYK, and PANTONE color systems

  • Graphic styles for images and alignment/distribution of images with other objects or the workspace

 
5. Formatting Texts in InDesign
  • Importing text from various file types

  • Paragraph and character formatting styles

  • Managing formatting styles

  • Print formatting properties (leading, kerning, indentation, tracking, tabs, bullets)

  • Organizing text in columns and defining text box margins

  • Arranging text along paths (vector-drawn paths)

  • Applying effects to text, images, or imported vector objects (gradients, transparency, shadows, blending modes, etc.)

 
6. Creating and Editing Vector Elements
  • Creating vector graphics directly in InDesign

  • Designing logos, defining the safety area of a logo, corporate guidelines

  • Converting text into paths

 
7. Editing Tables in InDesign
  • Importing and formatting tables, creating tables in InDesign

  • Special table formatting options, predefined table styles, additional table formatting (fill or stroke color changes)

  • Adding graphic elements to tables

  • Adding headers and footers

 
8. Creating Indexes (Contents)
  • Automatic page numbering for books or magazines

  • Designing business cards, flyers, posters, banners (indoor or outdoor)

  • Building layouts and exporting for print

 

Required Documents for Enrollment:
  • Copy of ID/passport/residence permit

  • Copy of birth certificate (if not in English, German, Italian, or Spanish, it must be translated and legalized in Romanian)

  • Copy of marriage certificate (only if the name has changed)

  • Copy of the most recent educational diploma
